Questions

Answers, before you ask.

The things people ask most about requesting, donating and privacy on BBN.

How do I install the Android app?

Download the APK from this site and open it. If Android asks, allow installing from your browser, then tap Install. BBN will come to Google Play later; updates are published here until then.

Do I need to be a donor to request blood?

No. Anyone with an account can request blood, for themselves or someone else. Registering as a donor is a separate, optional choice.

Does BBN cost anything?

No, never. BBN charges nothing, and nobody should ask you to pay for blood. If a donor or anyone else asks for money, report it in the app.

Who can see my phone number?

Nobody, at first. A requester's contact number is shown only to donors who accept, and a donor's number reaches the requester only if the donor chooses to share it when accepting.

How are donors chosen?

BBN invites registered donors near the hospital whose blood group may suit the request and who are marked available. If nobody answers, the search widens in waves.

If I'm matched, does that mean I can donate?

No. A match only decides who hears about a request first. The facility's medical screening decides whether you can donate.

How do I stop getting invitations?

In the app, open Donate and set yourself to unavailable or paused. You can switch back whenever you are ready.

How does a hospital join?

A hospital applies on the registration page. The BBN team verifies it before its workspace opens, and its administrator then invites the staff.

Is BBN an emergency service?

No. In an emergency, contact the hospital or emergency services directly. BBN helps find voluntary donors but cannot guarantee that blood will be available.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Profile and choose Delete account. Your profile and donor details are removed, and open requests are cancelled.
